Battle of the Ultrathins Round 2 : Gaming Benchmarks

Richland (25W)
AMD A10-5745m
2.1/2.9 Ghz Turbo
2M/4T
AMD 8610G - 384 Shader Units

Haswell (15W)
Intel i5 4250u
1.3/2.6 Ghz Turbo
2C/4T
Intel HD 5000

Settings: IGP/Value Settings from Anandtech - 1366 x 768

"The graphics unit called Radeon HD 8610G offers all 384 shader units (VLIW4) and is slightly faster than the HD 7660G. The core is clocked at 533-626 MHz (turbo)"

The 7660g will be compared with the HD 5000 in this case.

RESULTS:

GRID 2 : Winner AMD by +8.8%

Haswell : 43.1 FPS
Richland : 46.9 FPS

Tomb Raider : Winner AMD by +6.3%

Haswell : 28.3 FPS
Richland : 30.1 FPS

Sleeping Dogs : Winner AMD by +43.9%

Haswell : 24.6 FPS
Richland : 35.4 FPS

Metro Last Light : Winner AMD by +49.3%

Haswell  : 13.6 FPS
Richland : 20.3 FPS

BioShock Infinite : Winner AMD by +26.5%

Haswell : 20.4 FPS
Richland : 25.8

The HD 5000 found in the Macbook Air is only a fraction better than the HD 4400, and even has worse performance in some benchmarks and games. It looks like Iris was only effective at the 55W range, performance plumets as power decreases. AMD maintains a similar performance across all form factors from ultrathin to laptop to desktop, and this range will decrease further with Kaveri.

Richland :
Firestrike: 809

Kaveri :
(+33% more shader cores, and if a clock boost by 10%)
Firestrike: 1183

ADDED: The RT2 graphics on this ultrathin will perform roughly the same as an overclocked 8670D desktop GPU found in the A10-6800k APU.

Until Iris 5100 comes out with the intel i7-4558U, AMD has a huge graphical lead in their ultrathins over haswell HD 4400.

ADDED: The Key for AMD here fast ram! Kaveri FM2+ will support up to 2933 Mhz DDR3 in desktops , and graphics card benefits from 1600-2133 Mhz are ~12-15%, so to 1600-2933 Mhz ~+30% benefit .

In ultrathins 1600 Mhz or 1866 Mhz will be the standard so this benefit is not seen.

AMD FX 9590 at Stock Clocks is 26.7% faster than a stock clocked i7 3770k, and 13.6% faster than a stock clocked i7 4770k in this multi core test.

AMD is catching up in single core performance out of the box, mainly because of the new "high stock clock / smaller overclock" stance AMD is taking for the next few years. Haswell on the other hand sees a huge increase in performance with this encoding test when compared to IvyBridge. When all cores are used, the AMD FX 9650 will greatly out perform intel's 4C/8T chips and will  barley fall short when compared to intel's 1000 USD 6C/12T.
